Northerners-in-Residence Program
What we’re offering…
-
A 6-month intensive for theatre creators interested in developing a new theatrical work
-
Ongoing, one-on-one dramaturgical support from residency facilitator, Caitie Graham, for the duration of the residency (November 2023 – April 2024)

Monthly group meetings wherein residents convene to share works-in-progress, and discuss topics important to their artwork and the professional development of the group

Intimate artist-talks with invited guest speakers, and crossover programming with the Northerners’ Creation Unit
-
The opportunity for a full in-person workshop and presentation of works-in-progress with professional actors at Playsmelter in May 2024 in Sudbury
-
An honorarium
We’re looking for applicants who are…
-
Passionate about their project, and dedicated to its development
-
Prepared to spend a substantial amount of time between meetings to writing/creating, and meeting mutually agreed-upon deadlines with the facilitator.

Available to attend all one-on-one dramaturgy sessions, and group meetings with fellow residents (app. 5hr commitment/month). Scheduling will remain flexible to participants’ availability, on weekday evenings and/or weekends.

Currently based in Northern Ontario
All activities prior to PlaySmelter will take place virtually over Zoom.

A brief introduction of who you are and why you’re applying to the Northerners-in-Residence Program; where you’re at in your journey as a theatre creator, and what you hope to gain from this experience at this juncture.

A creative work sample; PDF (10pg max) OR Video (5min max)

We are looking for creative work samples that best reflect your current/previous work as a theatre creator. Samples can either be from the project you intend to develop over the residency, or from previous work(s).

You may submit the sample either as a PDF or short video.

If you choose to send us a video, we ask that you submit it to us as an UNLISTED YouTube video link. For more information on how to do this, click here.

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: Wednesday October 25th @ 11:59pm ET
All applicants will be contacted upon receipt of their submission, and again in early November regarding the status of their application.
